Pink and Yellow Water Melon Shades Jacob Wool The Jacob sheep is described as an improved breed of coloured sheep. The fleece is very popular with spinners and weavers and it needle felts up very quickly. The natural un-dyed colours of its wool make distinctive garments. There are two colours of wool on a Jacob Sheep fleece....dark brown and white. And it is bright white after a gentle hand wash is an essential oil wool wash liquid. The fleece of a Jacob Sheep is light, soft, springy and open with little lanolin and varies in crimp and fineness. The medium-fine wool is sought after by hand spinners. The Jacobs dark brown colour are in spots on the fleece making it easy to to separate into colours. I do love the natural dark white cared together....they make up a beautiful destructive tweed like hand spun yarn or very lifelike 2D or 3D animal needle felting projects. To make these batts I split off some of the white fleece so that I can dye it. I find that this gives myself and other hand spinners the opportunity to work with this fabulous wool on a wider range of crafty makes. I hand wash, hand dye and card this lovely wool on my drum carder. I try my best remove any last bits of hay.......you may however find one or two that will flick out as you spin.
